Zajuckaj in zapoj

Zajuckaj in zapoj is an event organized by the our institute since 1997 and presents the results of the field work of the institute's researchers. In recent years, we have presented tamburitza ensembles, violin in instrumental ensembles, different Slovene folk singing styles, folk music of Slovenes living abroad, folk music of ethnic minorities in Slovenia, carols, narrative songs, bell chiming, less popular folk instruments, women's and male music activities, military songs and the musical tradition of Bela krajina. Zajuckaj in zapoj is one of the few events in Ljubljana that presents folk singers and musicians, still associated with spontaneous singing and music, which is preserved within the framework of intergenerational transmission of tradition.

The concert Zajuckaj in zapoj, which was performed in 2020, was dedicated to the linguistic intertwining in the folk song tradition. Songs expressing coexistence with other ethnic groups in the past state frameworks were presented, and in addition, contemporary song examples of bilingualism in border regions were included in the program. The concert was performed by three music groups, namely members of the Cultural and Artistic Association Židan Parazol, Marino Kranjac and Gabrijel Križman and Gailtaler Wildsänger - Zilja Folk Singers. The first group, Židan parazol, performed in various ensembles, namely in the groups Fantje z Viča and Drumlce, as well as individually. A recording of the concert, recorded by Radio Prvi RTV SLO is available at:
