Zajuckaj in zapoj (Shout and Sing) is a publication which presents recordings from “Zajuckaj in zapoj” events organized by the Institute of Ethnomusicology since 1997. The selection of audio recordings marks the 15th anniversary of the event. The CD presents the key characteristics of Slovenian folk music: different manners of folk singing, narrative songs, military songs, bell chiming, lesser known folk instruments, men’s part singing, family singing, folk music traditions of Slovenian minorities abroad, folk music traditions of ethnic minorities in Slovenia, tamburica ensembles and carol singing in folk tradition. The CD presents folk singers and musicians, as well as other musicians who drew on the folk tradition.
