Digital archive of Slovenian folk songs

The goal of the project is to set up a searchable database for the manuscript collections of Slovenian folk songs at the Institute of Ethnomusicology. Collections span back to 1900 and started as a part of the wider initiative for gathering folk songs within of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy. Songs are stored in a variety of formats, from old hand written materials to analog and digital audio recordings. Tools for entering and storing digitized recordings (textual data, music scores and audio recordings) into the database are being developed within the project, as well as tools for searching the database, which include not only textual searches, but also searches based on musical qualities, such as melody.
