International Conference “Perspectives on the Work of France Marolt and his Contemporaries”

Basic information

September 16, 2025 at 09:30 to September 17, 2025 at 13:00
GIAM ZRC SAZU, Gosposka Hall, Gosposka ulica 1, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Organizer: ZRC SAZU, Institute of Ethnomusicology
Description

The legacy of France Marolt – both physical and intellectual, as well as conceptual – raises numerous questions, whether concerning the formation of national culture on the basis of musical tradition, cultural nationalism, postcolonialism, the selection and interpretation of cultural content, or the influence of the cult of personality and authority on later and/or contemporary ethnomusicology. The issues related to France Marolt will be examined by Slovenian scholars, while international scholars will place some of Marolt’s contemporaries within a comparable temporal and social framework.

The symposium will be held in English language.

The book of abstracts are available HERE.
